Job Title - Seasonal Grass Cutter
Location - Felixstowe, Suffolk
Weekly Hours - 37
Salary - £12,145 pro rata
Reporting To - Works Supervisor
General Description of Role
In conjunction with a permanent team member, to ensure that Grounds Maintenance work to parks, open spaces, Prestige Gardens, Cemeteries and Highway/roadside verge grass is carried out in accordance with the Clients specified instructions and standards.
• Ensure that all work is carried out in compliance with the Operation and Training Manual for Grounds Maintenance.
• Main duties will include grass cutting, pruning, hedge cutting, bed preparation and seasonal bed planting.
• To ensure grass care and production and to undertake the safe and correct application and use of chemicals, for example, fertilisers, pesticides and herbicides.
• Ensure that all tasks are carried out in a safe and proper manner in accordance with Clients specifications/directions and the Contract Services BS EN ISO 9002 Quality Management System.
• To undertake the use of a wide range of pedestrian and ride on mowing and horticultural maintenance equipment, the combined value of which, together with vehicle and trailer for transportation, likely to amount to £35K.
• Although working under the general guidance and instructions of a Supervisor, make minor decisions as to the execution of the tasks being performed in respect of identifying problems and proposing solutions in accordance with the recognised Horticultural practice and standards.
• Ensure that all Schedules are either completed or reason for non completion is given at the end of each day.
• Ensure that all paperwork is completed daily and handed to the Supervisor each week/month.
• Responsible for all equipment assigned and to ensure that all vehicles/plant equipment is maintained daily as described in the Operation and Training Manual.
• To ensure that all defects to Vehicles/Plant are reported immediately.
• During spells of inclement weather, which prevent normal scheduled duties from being undertaken, to carry out other non scheduled tasks as directed by Supervisor or Assistant Contracts Manager.
• Carry out any other duties as directed by the Supervisor or Assistant Contracts Manager, following appropriate training, instruction and assessment of competency.
• Ensure that tasks and duties are undertaken in a manner that supports the Contract Services BS EN ISO14001 accredited Environmental Management System and its procedures.
