• What’s involved with this role:
I. Receiving and assisting all visitors, directing members of the public to other reception areas for specific services as appropriate
II. Contacting members of staff who have visitors
III. Dealing with enquiries of a routine nature from members of the public and other callers and visitors
IV. Dealing with deliveries and receive goods on behalf of the Council, ensuring they are recorded and stored according to procedures. Arranging subsequent delivery or collection by porters or other staff
V. Dealing with couriers and receiving post delivered by them, entering details in delivery book and notifying customer
VI. Dealing with telephone enquiries at the desk, answering questions and transferring callers as appropriate
VII. Ensuring the reception areas are kept tidy
VIII. Carrying out basic clerical tasks as necessary, such as filing, photocopying, checking data, and sorting and delivering post
IMPORTANT notes:
1) At the risk of stating the obvious, our clients are looking for CVs that match the “Essentials” listed below.

• “Essentials” for inclusion within on your CV: Give yourself the best chance of getting appointed by ensuring that your CV shows the following PROMINENTLY:
- minimum of 2 years reception and associated office administration experience within a large organisation
- Enhanced CRB check to be in place
- IT literate
• Other useful, but non-essential, details to include on your CV, if applicable:
- any local authority or other public sector experience
- any children's learning or other services experience
- any relevant qualifications held or being studied for

• Anticipated Length of Assignment: Temporary role for 3 months initially, though considered likely to be extended.
• Hours per week: 36, Monday – Friday, normal working hours. Please note that there could be some flexibility on offer re starting/finishing times - to be discussed at interview
